Five Reported Injured in BNSF-Amtrak Collision
A low-speed collision involving train No. 1242 has halted train traffic into Union Station, according to reports.
Chicago Breaking News is reporting that at least five people were hurt in a low speed collision involving a Burlington Northern Santa Fe train from Aurora and an Amtrak train.
Metra officials told Chicago Breaking News that accident happened at the south end of the station, between tracks 2 and 4 and involved train No. 1242.
Metra has reported that Train No.1256 scheduled to arrive Chicago at 8:45 a.m., train No. 1258 scheduled to arrive Chicago at 8:49 a.m. are stopped due to the accident involving the Amtrak train.

Because of the accident, all train traffic entering or leaving from the South side of the station (BNSF & SWS) was halted by the Chicago Fire Department until further notice.

At 9:58 a.m. Metra announced that train traffic in and out of Chicago Union Station resumed using limited tracks. Metra says that it anticipates all trains will be moving again shortly.
