Ernest G. Treptow
Ernest George Treptow, age 82, of Shorewood, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at home, with his loving family by his side.

Born August 21, 1939 in Elmhurst, IL he was the son of the late Earl and Irene (Vacha) Treptow. He was raised in Westmont, and was a graduate of Hinsdale High School, where he played football, basketball, and ran track, and graduated with the Class of 1958. He then attended Furman University in Greenville, SC on a football scholarship, and studied engineering. Following an injury, he returned to Illinois and continued his education at North Central College in Naperville, where he also played basketball.
Ernest worked as a project engineer in the Design and Test Center for International Harvester, which later became Case IH, at their engineering center in Burr Ridge. He was a hard worker, dedicated to his company and profession, and was a proud patent holder.

A loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, he put his family first always giving of himself and never worrying about his own needs. In addition to his passion for sports, especially golf, he was a great coach who loved coaching his sons’ basketball and soccer teams. Ernest loved being around his family, traveling, having a good time, and demonstrating his skill on the dance floor. He will be remembered for his creativity, intelligence, and his tremendous sense of humor.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sandra L. “Sandy” (Laube) Treptow; three loving sons, William “Bill” (Lisa) Treptow and Michael “Mike” (Michele) Treptow, both of Plainfield, and Steven “Steve” (Amy) Treptow of Sandwich; and six adoring grandchildren, Grace and Max, Joseph and Annelyse, and Hannah and Ernest “E.J.”
Cremation rites have been accorded and services will be private.
