Outdoor Music Allowed At Hinsdale Restaurant

Village police said they have received two complaints about the music.

HINSDALE, IL – For two years, Nabuki, a Japanese restaurant in Hinsdale, has played music for its outdoor diners.

On Tuesday, the Village Board allowed the restaurant to continue to do so. It was part of its approvals for outdoor dining at Nabuki and seven other local restaurants.

Nabuki, 18 E. First St., plays acoustic music for outdoor customers from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m Tuesdays and Thursdays in the summer.

A representative of the business who did not identify himself told the board that the music has proved popular.

Village President Tom Cauley asked Police Chief Brian King whether the police have received any complaints about the music.

King said the police department received two. They were about the fact that outdoor music was playing, he said, not the volume.

From the officer's perspective, the music was "completely reasonable," King said.

Trustee Luke Stifflear said he didn't have a problem with the music.

"(The restaurant) knows that if we get a ton of complaints, we're going to cut it," he said.

Added Trustee Neale Byrnes, "If something does come up, we're going to have to revisit it."
