Party to Honor Survivor of Willowbrook Home Invasion, Thank Supporters

The birthday party and celebration for Melissa Schuster will take place Oct. 10 at Borse Park.

The community is invited to a party to thank those who supported and prayed for Melissa Schuster, a Willowbrook woman who survived a home invasion and brutal assault Aug. 29.

The party, which will also serve as a birthday celebration for Schuster and a thank-you to first responders, will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Oct. 10 at Tony and Florence Borse Memorial Community Park in Willowbrook, according to Mary Elizabeth Schuster-Callison, Melissa’s sister.

Local restaurants have donated food for the party, and a DJ, a local band and yard games will provide entertainment. Children may also explore fire trucks and police cars.

The party is meant to celebrate life and to thank law enforcement, first responders and the community, Schuster-Callison said.
