Temporary Raises For Hinsdale D86 Officials On Table
The district wants to give pay hikes of $10,000 and $15,000 to those with extra duties.

HINSDALE, IL – Six Hinsdale High School District 86 officials are likely to get raises for the next year for extra duties as a key position goes vacant.
In June, the district missed the opportunity to hire an assistant superintendent for academics, despite the former official giving five months' notice.
On Thursday, the school board plans to vote on the raises:

- $15,000, Kari Peronto, South's principal
- $15,000, Kari Smith, assistant superintendent of student services
- $15,000, Chris Cirrincione, Central's assistant principal of instruction
- $15,000, Kurt Vonnahme, South's assistant principal of instruction
- $10,000, Ryan Maita, Central's assistant principal of operations
- $10,000, Kyle Burritt, South's assistant principal of operations
The raises total $80,000. That's far less than the $225,000 in salary and benefits for the former assistant superintendent for academics, Jason Markey, who left June 30.
The six officials make up a group called the "Academic Cabinet." In a proposed version of the cabinet last month, Central's principal, Bill Walsh, was included. It was unclear why he was not on the list for raises in the memo issued for Thursday's meeting.

According to the memo, the assistant superintendent's duties have been distributed to ensure "collaborative executive and oversight."
A Patch story last week detailed why the district did not hire an assistant superintendent in time.
