Eighth Street Pedestrian Bridge Will Be Replaced This Summer
The City will remove and replace the deteriorating pedestrian bridge crossing the I&M Canal at Lincoln Landing.

LOCKPORT, IL — Construction is expected this summer on the Eighth Street pedestrian bridge in Lockport, according to the City newsletter.
The City received a grant from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources and the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity to remove and replace the deteriorating pedestrian bridge crossing the I&M Canal at Lincoln Landing.
The bridge was last modified in 2009 when improvements to Lincoln Landing were done.

The bridge conditions report showed failures in the steel bracing, according to Lockport City Council documents. The Illinois Department of Natural Resources has requested that the historical abutments be reused.
