HOMER GLEN, IL — Homer Glen voters will decide whether the Village should pursue a feasibility study for a part-time police department in Tuesday's consolidated election.

The exact question will read: "Shall the Village Board pursue exploring a feasibility study to create and maintain a part-time police department within the Village of Homer?"

The question does not create a part-time police department, and will not increase any tax or create a new tax.

"The public question is not meant to end contractual services with the Will County Sheriff's Department," the village website notes, and adds that the exploration would not end or cut supplemental services from the sheriff's office.

If the referendum passes, the Village will put out a bid for consultants who can conduct the study. If it fails, then nothing will change.
