READ: Woman Held At Gunpoint, Tied Up During Homer Glen Home Invasion: Sheriff

Police say deputies responded to a home invasion in the 16800 block of Deer Path in Homer Glen at 2:48 p.m. Wednesday. A 73-year-old woman said she had pulled her vehicle into her garage after grocery shopping when she was confronted by a man with a gun. Police say the man pointed the handgun at her and demanded cash, then a second man got out of a dark-colored Acura that had been following the woman. The vehicle had been stolen out of Chicago, police said.

According to the sheriff's office, the two men forced the woman into her home at gunpoint, then bound her wrists and ankles using items from inside her home, stole a credit card from her purse, and demanded her PIN while threatening her life.

Police said the two men left the home, then withdrew $2,000 from the woman's account at an Orland Park bank.

After 20 minutes, the woman was able to free herself and seek help from a neighbor. Deputies quickly determined the stolen Acura and the suspects were headed back to Chicago, police said.

The next day, a strikingly similar home invasion was reported nearby in Lemont. At 2:56 p.m., police said officers responded to the 1200 block of Covington Drive, where a 65-year-old woman said she was unloading boxes from her vehicle in the driveway to her garage, when a black Acura pulled in front of her house and parked.

Two men, masked and armed with handguns, entered the garage and forced the victim into her home, according to police. The victim was bound and robbed of her ATM card and PIN, as well as other items, before the two men fled in the stolen car, according to police. There was also a third male suspect inside the car, police said.

The woman's card was used to make a withdrawal of cash was made at an area bank, Lemont Police said.

After the Lemont robbery, an area-wide alert was issued. The sheriff's office said the vehicle and the suspects' descriptions matched those from the Homer Glen home invasion and robbery a day earlier. Will County detectives and multiple other agencies began searching for the vehicle and reviewing license plate reader data.

"A short time later, patrol officers from the Joliet Police Department located the suspect vehicle traveling on McDonough Street," the sheriff's office said. "When officers attempted a traffic stop, the driver fled, prompting a coordinated multi-agency pursuit" that ended when the car crashed near Route 52 and Rowell Avenue in unincorporated Will County, police said.

All three suspects fled on foot, but were quickly taken into custody. Police said two guns thrown by the suspects were also recovered with the assistance of a Joliet Police Department K9 unit. One suspect was taken to a local hospital for evaluation; the remaining two were brought to the Will County Sheriff’s Office Public Safety Complex for questioning.

The two suspects were interviewed by detectives and officials from the Will County Sheriff’s Office, Lemont Police Department, Chicago Police Department, ATF and FBI, according to a sheriff's office news release.

Glenn and Calloway were taken to the Will County jail. The juvenile suspect was released to a parent, and charges for him are pending, according to police.

The sheriff's office said it has also been advised that charges for all three suspects are pending in Cook County in connection with the Lemont robbery.

On Thursday, police said "all three suspects have extensive criminal histories, including prior weapons-related offenses." In late 2022, Glenn was sentenced to five years in federal prison "for illegally possessing a machine gun and participating in a shootout with rival gang members on a city sidewalk," the U.S. Attorney's office said at the time. Officials said that in June 2021, Glenn was in possession of a .40 handgun caliber equipped with a "Glock switch" while sitting in the driver’s seat of a stolen Infiniti sedan in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood on Chicago’s South Side.

The judge also found that Glenn had fired a shot during a shootout with rival gang members on Dec. 22, 2018, on a sidewalk on the city's South Side, and that a man in Glenn's own group was wounded in the shootout. It's unclear when Glenn was released from federal prison.

Police said the home invasion investigations remain ongoing, and evidence was collected "at various crime scenes and locations." Further testing of evidence is needed before additional charges can be filed, police said.

The Will County Sheriff’s Office thanked "the Joliet Police Department, the Orland Park Police Department, and all assisting agencies," adding, "Public safety is law enforcements top priority, and we are grateful for the partnership and swift actions of all involved. When incidents like these occur in our communities, it reminds us to always remain vigilant and never let your guard down. Please be cognizant of your surroundings and if something doesn’t seem right to you or you see something suspicious contact law enforcement right away.
