Lockport Man Charged In Connection With Multiple Armed Robberies: PD

LOCKPORT, IL — A 28-year-old Lockport man who was arrested recently in connection with the robbery of a New Lenox Speedway station and a 7-Eleven in Joliet has also been charged in Lockport in connection with two additional gas station robberies in Lockport, police said.

Joseph B. Weber of the 300 block of Madison Street in Lockport, faces armed robbery and burglary charges in connection with an incident at a New Lenox gas station on April 22, police said. Weber was one of two men arrested who are linked to the armed robbery when the men targeted the employee behind the counter, New Lenox Police said on Monday.

Officers obtained surveillance video from a neighboring business and saw the offender run to a waiting dark-colored sedan being driven by another individual.

The same day, New Lenox police investigators learned that a Speedway in Lockport was robbed by a suspect with similar characteristics as the offender in the New Lenox armed robbery. New Lenox police began working with the Lockport police, and an investigation continued.

Weber was arrested on May 4 by Joliet Police after he was identified as the person who robbed the Joliet convenience store, police said.

A Lockport police spokesman told Patch on Monday that Weber was wanted in connection with two incidents at the Lockport Speedway on 9th Street. One of the incidents occurred on April 23 before the second took place on May 4, police said.

In addition to being charged in connection to the New Lenox and Joliet robberies, Weber – who remains in custody at the Will County Jail – faces charges in Lockport of two counts of armed robbery, two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, and two counts of burglary without causing damage, police said.

Weber is being held on $750,000 bond with 10 percent to apply.
