Lockport Woman To Serve 21 Days For Going Into Capitol On Jan. 6

Kelly Lynn Fontaine will also serve 3 years probation for parading, demonstrating or picketing inside the Capitol.

LOCKPORT, IL — A Lockport woman has been sentenced to 21 days in jail after she unlawfully entered the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia.

Kelly Lynn Fontaine, 54, was arrested earlier this year after an investigation revealed that Fontaine and her husband Brian Dula traveled to Washington, D.C., and entered the U.S. Capitol.

Fontaine will serve 21 days in jail for disorderly or disruptive conduct on the grounds or in the buildings of the Capitol, and will also serve three years' probation for parading, demonstrating, or picketing in the Capitol.

According to federal court documents, Fontaine promoted the rally on her Facebook page, and posted about traveling to Washington, D.C. Video and photos show Fontaine and Dula attending the protest on the National Mall, walking to the Capitol building, and entering.

Photos posted on Fontaine's Facebook also showed her inside the Capitol. Capitol CCTV also showed Fontaine and Dula taking pictures and video as they walked into the building, according to federal documents.

In an interview with the FBI in September 2022, both Fontaine and Dula admitted they had attended the rally, walked to the Capitol and entered the building, according to federal documents.

Fontaine can self-surrender for her jail time after Jan. 1, 2025, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia.

Dula was sentenced to probation for his actions.
