LTHS Board Approves Masonry Work For Central Campus

Financing for these projects comes from Life Safety Bonds approved by the Board on March 17.

LOCKPORT, IL — At a special Board of Education meeting on April 3, the LTHS Board of Education reviewed and approved Bid Package Six for the exterior envelope and masonry work at Central Campus this summer, according to a release from the District.

The Board had the opportunity to ask questions of Neil Offerman (Berglund Construction), and Eric Sickber (DLA Architects) regarding the project. Following discussion, the Board awarded Bid Package Six to Berglund Construction for a total bid price of $3,150,000. Berglund Construction submitted the lowest bid for this work, the District said.

The LTHS Board previously approved bids on March 17 (Packages 1-5), along with Package Six, covering all construction work planned for summer 2025 at Central Campus, the District said. However, these bids do not include additional work scheduled for the summer of 2026, which will
complete roofing, masonry, window, and electrical upgrades that were started in 2025. Dividing the work over two summers ensures no interruption to the 2025-2026 school year, the District said.

LTHS D205 has also started discussions with Berglund Construction to establish a paid summer
internship program for two LTHS students interested in construction management and
construction trades, the District said. This opportunity will allow students to gain hands-on experience with the ongoing work at Central Campus.
