Man Hospitalized After Mental Health Crisis In Homer Glen: Sheriff
A resident saw the man and rushed to his aid Friday afternoon, the sheriff's office said.
HOMER GLEN, IL — A man was rushed to Silver Cross Hospital Friday afternoon after officials said he lit himself on fire during a mental health crisis.
Will County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Kathy Hoffmeyer said the man, who is in his 30s, was on a sidewalk on Badger Lane when he lit himself on fire.
A resident of the street spotted the man and rushed to help, using a blanket to put out the flames. Hoffmeyer said the resident was able to get the man to their porch, where he was conscious when Will County deputies and paramedics arrived. Police said the man does not live on the street where he was found.

The man was taken to Silver Cross Hospital, and was being prepared to be taken to another area hospital Friday afternoon, Hoffmeyer said. The extent of his injuries was unclear.
