“We are honored to mark this 20-year milestone by giving back in such a tangible way,” said Brent Woods, President of the Disabled Patriot Fund. “These service dogs will make a profound difference in the lives of their veteran partners.”
The Disabled Patriot Fund was founded in 2004 by a group of area business people and local officials, the organization told Patch.

The group's common interest is to "provide assistance for local U.S. veterans and their families adversely affected by their military service."
"Since 2004, we have had some of the founding board members retire and attained new members along the way," Kelly Lascola, who handles public relations for the nonprofit, said. "The one thing that has remained constant is everyone’s commitment to ensure that all donations to the Disabled Patriot Fund go to our main cause of helping our injured veterans in need of immediate assistance."
Lascola said the nonprofit assists and supports the veterans, "to grow and move past the bad times, enabling them to achieve their goals and be successful and content members of society."
You can donate or register for the annual golf outing on the nonprofit's website.
