Betty Jo Robinson, 79, of Minooka, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 20, 2025, in Joliet. She was born on October 6, 1946, in DuQuoin, Illinois, the daughter of late Jacob Henry and Margaret Elizabeth (Roberts) Loucks. Betty grew up on the family farm, an experience that shaped her strong work ethic, love of the outdoors, and lifelong appreciation for nature.
Betty was a graduate of Western High School, where she was a rifle bearer and an active member of FFA. These early involvements reflected her sense of responsibility, leadership, and dedication to her community—qualities that continued to define her throughout her life. She dedicated 30 years of service to Illinois Bell. Beginning her career as a telephone operator and retired from Dial Service. During her tenure, she was instrumental in the establishment of the 911 system, a contribution that helped shape emergency services for countless individuals and families. She was also a proud member of the Telephone Pioneers, continuing her commitment to the telecommunications community beyond her working years. After retiring, she went on to work another ten years with BMO Harris Bank.

Community service was central to Betty’s life. She was a past member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Troy Fire Department and was actively involved with Troy Baseball, where she could often be found helping maintain the grounds and working in the concession stand fostering relationships with all the families she served. Her quiet, steady presence and willingness to lend a hand made a lasting impact on those around her.
At home, Betty found joy in simple, meaningful pursuits. She enjoyed reading and loved spending time in her garden, tending to the plants, flowers, and vegetables that brought her peace, happiness, and nourishment. Above all, she cherished time with her family, especially her grandchildren, with whom she shared a special and enduring bond.
Betty is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Frank Robinson; her daughter, Chelly (Frank) Kafka; her son, Robert Robinson; and her two grandchildren, Frank and Cheyenne Kafka, who were the light of her life. She is also survived by her siblings, Jean (the late John) Rasmussen, Margie (Mike) Miller, Jan (Red) Thomas, and Don (Tina) Loucks, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, June Wilkinson and Pat Azevedo.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Monday, December 29, 2025, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet, IL, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Memorial Service at 12:00 noon. Inurnment will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois.
