15 Coronavirus Cases, 8 Deaths At Manor Care Homewood

Data released by the Illinois Department of Public Health also shows eight cases and three deaths at Sunrise of Flossmoor.

FLOSSMOOR, IL — New Illinois Department of Public Health data shows the number of new coronavirus cases and deaths linked to nursing homes throughout the state. Locally in Homewood and Flossmoor, the highest numbers appear to come from the Manor Care Health Services - Homewood nursing home.

According to the data as of April 20, there have been 15 confirmed cases and eight deaths of residents at the nursing home. Also On Patch: Pritzker Gathering Data Before Extending Stay-At-Home Order

Dr. Mark Gloth, CEO of HCR ManorCare, said the facility is taking all precautions possible for the safety of their residents.

"Our care team is doing everything they can to protect you, our care team and their co-workers," he said in a video on the ManorCare website.

The data also shows confirmed cases and deaths at the Sunrise of Flossmoor assisted living center on Governors Highway in Flossmoor. There, there have been eight confirmed cases of the coronavirus and three deaths.

Sunrise has also issued a statement on their website.

Nearby in Chicago Heights, the numbers reported at nursing homes there are much lower. Aeperion Chicago Heights has one case and no deaths, while Bria Chicago Heights has no cases, the data shows.
