HOMEWOOD, IL — Four voting precincts that had been moved outside of the village limits in recent election cycles will be returned to more convenient locations within Homewood for the upcoming election, Cook County officials announced Thursday.

Village officials and Homewood Mayor Rich Hofeld worked with the Cook County Clerk’s Office to have the precincts moved back to the village after several residents complained about having to travel outside of Homewood to vote, the village said.

Hofeld worked with the clerk’s office to have the polling locations moved back to locations that met requirements of the Americans With Disabilities Act, but that were also in closer proximity to the areas where the concerned residents reside, officials said.

“There were many concerns expressed to me by residents in these precincts having to go outside of Homewood to vote,” Hofeld said in a news release. “As a result, we reached out to the Cook County Clerk’s Office, and now the concerned voters will be able to vote in Homewood.”

As a result of the mayor’s efforts, the Cook County Clerk’s Office is prepared to relocate Rich Township precincts 11, 31, and 34 to The Clubhouse at Dolphin Lake, which is located at 2700 W. 183rd St. and Bremen Township precinct 26 to the H-F Racquetball Club, which is located at 2920 183rd St.
