On September 20, 2011, Chuck’s House of Magic celebrated its 29th Anniversary. The company was founded in 1982 by Chuck and Joyce Gruberman. Three months after they opened their magic, novelty and costume shop in Chicago Heights the Grubermans added balloon deliveries and classic balloon decor to their repertoire. In 1986, they partnered with two other balloon companies to produce an educational conference, IBAC (International Balloon Arts Convention). For 20 years this group expanded the education of the balloon industry with the strong support of many industry business owners, manufacturers and vendors.
The growth of Chuck’s House of Magic over 25 years was mostly generated by the balloon and event decor portion of the business. Original owner, Chuck Gruberman, fondly recalls his most challenging event, “the 1996 Democratic National Convention in Chicago was a balloon event to remember! I was hired to design and orchestrate the confetti and balloon drop which one television news reporter called ‘the Mother of all Balloon Drops’. The DNC drop consisted of 151,000 red, white and blue balloons and 300 pounds of hand-sifted confetti”. Chuck retired from the business in 2007.
The Gruberman family extends their sincere “Thank You” to their customers who supported them throughout their many retail locations over the past 29 years.
Garrett Design Group is very excited to showcase its new concepts and will be hosting a grand opening and open house at the new showroom at a future date. Those interested in attending this event or for more information can go to www.GarrettDesignGroup.com and sign up with an email address.
Chuck’s House of Magic will have many discounts during the month of October and will be offering the remaining store inventory on October 30th & 31st at 50% and 75% off retail, respectively.
