HOMEWOOD, IL — An Apple AirTag helped police crack the case after two men robbed an armored truck outside Jewel-Osco in Homewood Monday and made off with $1 million in cash, Fox 32 News reports.
The robbery took place just before 9:30 a.m., when one of the men, identified in court documents as Darrell Singleton, 18, of Chicago, pistol-whipped the driver of the Brinks armored truck, Fox reported, citing court documents.
A second man, identified as Devonte Davis, 26, of Chicago, and who authorities say was also armed, is accused of helping Singleton force the driver into the truck. The two then reportedly stole seven plastic bins that each contained roughly $100,000 in cash, according to the report. They also took 10 deposit bags holding approximately $50,000 each, then fleeing the scene in a stolen Nissan.
