Bomb Threat At Jewel-Osco In Homewood Causes Evacuation

HOMEWOOD, IL — A bomb threat reported at the Jewel-Osco grocery store in Homewood Wednesday night caused an evacuation of the store and others in the area. A bomb was not found during a search by authorities.

Homewood police said they responded to the store at 17705 S. Halsted St. at 6:25 p.m. on May 20 after store employees received the threat and called police.

The evacuation of the area was put in place before the search did not come up with any bomb-like devices, police said. Residents of the area reported a heavy police presence at the time.

Police are continuing the investigation into the threat on Thursday, and are asking anyone with information to call their Criminal Investigations Unit at 708-206-3420.
