Delays on Electric Line Due to Early-Morning Derailment

Metra Electric Line and South Shore Line commuters this morning can expect delays of 15 minutes to an hour in the aftermath of a 1 a.m. derailment near 11th Street that affected two of the tracks.

To assist commuters, Metra and South Shore line tickets will be honored on the Red Line and the No. 6 bus, the No. 28 bus and the Jeffery Jump until 9 a.m. Wednesday.

No one was injured in the derailment. Five people were aboard the train at 1 a.m., reports Metra. As of 6 a.m., one of the tracks was cleared and work continues on the other.
