Driver Critical After Vehicle Plows Into Flossmoor Coffee Shop: Police
The crash happened early Monday.
FLOSSMOOR, IL — The driver was extricated from a vehicle early Monday after it crashed into Beyond Borders Cafe, 1036 Sterling Avenue, Flossmoor police said.
First responders from the Flossmoor Police and Fire Departments extricated the driver from the wreck, and they were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition.
Police said a portion of the downtown area was closed to traffic after the crash, but has since reopened.

Clean-up efforts and an investigation are continuing; more information will be provided if it becomes available, police said.
Beyond Borders Cafe offers coffee and pastries and recently opened in August, according to the Village of Flossmoor.

On social media, the cafe announced it is temporarily closed until further notice for repairs after an "unexpected incident," adding, "We are grateful for the support, patience, and understanding from our community during this time. Updates will be shared as soon as we are able."
