Open House set at H-F High School

Area 8th Graders and their parents are invited to annual Voyage to Excellence Open House on Wednesday, Dec. 7, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. 

“Attending Voyage to Excellence is a great way to become acquainted with the curricular and extra-curricular programs at Homewood-Flossmoor,” Gail Smith, assistant director of Athletics & Activities said. “Our incoming freshmen will be able to meet teachers, counselors, coaches and sponsors as they tour the South Building.”

Students whose last names begin with L-Z are asked to arrive between 7 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.; A-K students should arrive between 7:30 p.m. and 8 p.m.

All are welcome to attend a brief presentation by Superintendent  Dr. Von Mansfield, Principal Dr. Ryan Pitcock and Director of Curriculum, Instruction & Professional Development Nancy Spaniak at 7:10 p.m., 7:40 p.m. or 8 p.m. in the Mall Auditorium.


The rest of the evening is meant for exploring. Booths from the school’s academic departments, clubs, sports and activities will be located throughout the South Cafeteria and hallways, providing information on their organizations and how to get involved.

“Be prepared to be overwhelmed and impressed with the number of options that await you here at H-F,” Smith said. “From the fine arts to fencing, we really offer classes and clubs that appeal to everyone.”
