Flossmoor Public Art Commission Plans Fall Sculpture Walk

The walk will begin at Centennial, the sculpture on the south lawn of the Flossmoor Public Library, Saturday, Oct. 5 at 9:30 a.m.

FLOSSMOOR, IL — Art lovers are invited to kick off Illinois Arts & Humanities Month this October with a free walking tour of a portion of Flossmoor's public art collection on Saturday, Oct. 5.

Flossmoor Public Art Commissioners will meet guests at 9:30 a.m. at Centennial (the diamond-shaped sculpture on the south lawn of the Flossmoor Public Library, 1000 Sterling Ave. The walk is expected to last between 60 and 90 minutes.

Attendees will learn all about how this sculpture was created by talented student-artists and teachers from Homewood-Flossmoor Community High School to celebrate Flossmoor's 100th birthday and as a tribute to Swedish-American sculptor Claes Oldenburg.

The tour will then wind through Leavitt Park and end back in downtown Flossmoor at Judith Shea's iconic Child. More information is available at Flossmoor.org or Info@Flossmoor.org.
