Flossmoor Opens Fall Parkway Tree Registration
Those interested can fill out a form found on the Flossmoor Village website.
FLOSSMOOR, IL — Flossmoor is hosting its tree planting program again this fall, and is inviting residents to get involved.
The Fall 2021 Tree Planting Program provides all trees at no charge to homes with space in the parkway, according to the village. Each spring and fall, the Flossmoor Public Works, Flossmoor Green Commission and volunteers plant the trees on village parkways.
Those interested in participating can fill out a form with their preferred tree species. The Village Forestry Maintenance Technician needs to approve tree species and location and efforts will be made to plant the requested, preferred tree species, according to the village.

Changes to species may be necessary due to nursery availability, parkway location, and to promote species diversity, the village states. Approved applications will be put on the village tree planting list and planted on a first-come, first-serve basis. The trees are then planted spring and fall.
For each tree approved, a wooden stake will be given to the requester with a notice of a deadline to have the stake placed, the village states. What to do, is place the stake(s) in the parkway where it is preferred the tree(s) be planted. The village said if the tree cannot be planted at the exact location you desire for any reason, it will be planted as close to the stake as possible.
