Flossmoor's Winterfest 2017 Puts New Twists On Old Tradition

The village's annual tree and menorah lighting will have a new location this year for the Dec. 9 event.

FLOSSMOOR, IL — Winterfest returns to Flossmoor this year with a few new twists for residents. The celebration runs from 2 to 5 p.m. Dec. 9 at different locations throughout the village's downtown.

Although festivities start in the afternoon, the big event begins with the lighting of the village's menorah and Christmas tree at 5:15 p.m. at Flossmorr Park, a change from past years when the ceremony was done in front of the Flossmoor Public Library.

The library, however, will host Santa Claus starting at 2 p.m. And at 4:30 p.m., Santa will lead children in a parade through the village's downtown, ending the procession at Flossmoor Park for the tree and menorah lighting.
