POSTPONED: Free Sculpture Walk Of Flossmoor's Public Collection Pushed To Thursday
The walk has been rescheduled to Thursday, July 31 in Leavitt Park.

FLOSSMOOR, IL — Take a stroll with knowledgeable commissioners from the Flossmoor Public Art Commission to learn more about Flossmoor's public sculpture collection. This leisurely paced walk has been postponed and will start at 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 31 at Richard Hunt's inspiring Uplifted sculpture, located at the corner of Leavitt Avenue & Park Drive in Leavitt Park (1101 Leavitt Ave., Flossmoor). All are welcome to learn more about the artwork and the artists behind the art.
The tour will visit at least seven sculptures, including the newest installation in the collection: Indira Freitas Johnson’s Ten Thousand Ripples. Ten Thousand Ripples is a multi-platform public arts project that highlights the power of the arts to transform public spaces, communities and lives. At the center of the project was the creation of 100 fiberglass "emerging Buddha" sculptures by Johnson. Five of these sculptures were installed Thursday, July 17, in Leavitt Park, as part of the Village’s rotational sculpture collection, coordinated by the Flossmoor Public Art Commission and made possible through private donations from area residents. The sculptures will remain in Flossmoor through July 2028, reflecting peacefulness and non-violence.
Flossmoor’s public art collection includes 15 permanent sculptures, plus a collection of short-term sculptures that are displayed for three years. For more information, visit ArtFlossmoor.com.
