Homewood Beautification Awards To Spotlight Best Yards, Curb Appeal
Every single home in Homewood is viewed and considered by the committee; residents also can nominate themselves or a neighbor.
HOMEWOOD, IL — Ever wondered about those signs in the yards of your green-thumbed neighbors?
Every year, the Homewood Beautification Committee presents 50 Beautification Awards to homes that best represent the charm, pride of ownership, and curb appeal that make Homewood so special. The village is divided into 10 sections, with four Beautification Awards and one Blue Ribbon Award given in each section. The Blue Ribbon Award recognizes the best home of the year in each section.
Every single home in Homewood is viewed and considered by the committee, and residents also can nominate themselves or a neighbor by calling Homewood Public Works at 708-206-3470. Additionally, the committee recognizes local businesses with the Business Blue Ribbon Award and a number of additional residents with Honorary Mentions.

This year, the Beautification Committee will be viewing homes in mid-July and making their final decisions on July 24. Winners will be notified by mail shortly after and honored at a ceremony on September 5.

- Putting away garbage bins, yard waste bags, tools, and toys makes the best impression.
- No need to run out and buy new flowers—well-maintained landscaping of any kind can win.
- Clear your gutters, fix chipping paint, and fill in those driveway cracks. The committee wants to see your home and yard at its best.
- If you see someone taking photos in your neighborhood during this time, it might be a committee member nominating you or your neighbor. The committee is made up of 10 friendly Homewood residents who are happy to explain more, so just ask!
