Gunman Robs Homewood Dollar Tree

A man made off with a woman's purse and an undisclosed amount of money Saturday after holding up a Dollar Tree in Homewood.

HOMEWOOD, IL — A man with a gun robbed the Homewood Dollar Tree store Saturday, fleeing with an undisclosed amount of money and a woman's purse, Homewood police said.

The robbery happened just after 5 p.m. at the store at 17510 Halsted Street.

Witnesses said that a man with a medium build came in, showed his gun and demanded money from a clerk. As he fled, he grabbed a woman's purse.

The man was described as African American and wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt and a baseball cap. He is believed to have left the scene in a blue car.

The Homewood Police Detective Division is investigating.
