Homewood Firefighters Promote Safety Using Fire
As part of National Fire Prevention Week, Homewood firefighters will demonstrate importance of sprinklers by setting a fire.

From press release
Although firefighters are often tasked with extinguishing fires, on Saturday, Homewood firefighters will be starting fires to recognize national Fire Prevention Week starting Oct. 4.
The demonstration will be used to educate the public about the important life- and property-saving benefits of fire sprinklers, compared with the quick growth of an unprotected fire.

The demonstration will occur at approximately 1:15pm during Homewood Fire Department’s open house from 11am-2pm at its Fire Station, 17950 Dixie Hwy, Homewood.
With nearly 100 communities in Illinois now requiring fire sprinklers in new homes and over 100 communities requiring fire sprinklers in all new commercial buildings regardless of size, these dramatic demonstrations will help audiences understand how fire sprinklers work to control or suppress fires in the places they live and work.
