Homewood Native Awarded Medal of Merit
The Illinois National Guard director of psychology was honored for her work in suicide prevention.

Homewood native Juliann Steinbeigle was awarded the Illinois Military Medal of Merit at Camp Lincoln in Springfield on April 10.
Steinbeigle is the director of psychological health for the Illinois National Guard. Thanks to her efforts, more than 400 individuals participate in the behavioral health workshop she helped develop. She is also the first responder on suicide-related situations.
"Her advocacy on behavioral health issues has been imperative to the success of the Suicide Prevention Program within the Illinois National Guard," Col. Richard Neely, Chief of the Joint Staff for the Illinois National Guard said. "Her dedication has helped Illinois servicemembers and families across the state."
