Homewood Passes Eight Code Amendments: Here's What That Means
See the eight code amendments unanimously approved at Tuesday's Board of Trustees meeting In Homewood.
HOMEWOOD, IL — The Homewood Village Board unanimously approved of eight new municipal code amendments at Tuesday evening's meeting.
The board pass an ordinance adopting and enacting a new code of ordinances for the Village of Homewood Tuesday, and the amendments made following the vote included changes to liquor licensing, remote meeting participation, public dances, prohibiting parking in fire lanes and driver's license suspension.
The liquor licensing amendments eliminate the minimum seating requirement for class 7B liquor
licenses, increase the allowed number of liquor licenses from one to two to accommodate the request from A V Coffee Inc., Homebase Eatery, for their proposed location at 18322 Governors Highway and revised the time alcohol can be sold within the village.

A vote to remove language regarding driver's license suspension for failure to pay parking and red light camera tickets was passed.
Formerly, the ticket administrator was able to request the Secretary of State suspend driving privileges of an owner of a registered vehicle who has failed to pay any fine or penalty due and owing as a result of five traffic violations. A notice of impending driver's license suspension was previously sent to the person liable for any fine or penalty that remained due for five or more violations. Also stricken, if an owner had ten or more unpaid parking tickets for with a final notice, traffic administrators would submit a certified report of unpaid fines or penalties to the Secretary of State for possible suspension.

The board additionally passed an ordinance to allow remote participation at meetings, and compelling attendance at regular meetings of the board.
An ordinance removing a section of the village code regarding unlawful acts at public dances was also passed. Parking in fire lanes in Homewood is now prohibited, after the board passed an ordinance regarding parking.
