Homewood's Farmers Market Ranks 2nd In State: Village

HOMEWOOD, IL — Homewood's Farmers Market has been named among the top in the state.

The Village announced that the market achieved an impressive second place ranking in the 2025 America’s Farmers Market Celebration for Illinois farmers markets. This recognition strengthens Homewood’s reputation and helps attract valuable new vendors for future markets. Interest has already surged, with over 75 applications submitted for the Indoor Holiday Market, which is double the available vendor spots.

“Achieving second place is an honor beyond what we ever expected,” said Christine Banks, Market Coordinator. “This recognition reflects the hard work of our vendors, the enthusiasm of our community, and the deep connection this market has with our residents and visitors. We’re grateful that our community rallied behind Homewood in such a strong way.”

America’s Farmers Market Celebration is the only annual ranking of the nation’s farmers markets as voted on by the public. This recognition shines a spotlight on markets that bring fresh produce, locally made goods, and community connections to residents each week.

The Homewood Farmers Market has been a consistent staple in downtown Homewood for over 40 years. The market runs every Saturday from May until October and provides staples such as fresh fruit, vegetables, ready-to-eat foods, bread, cheese, mushrooms, and a variety of other unique handmade items.

“Our vendors crushed it this year,” said Marla Youngblood, Events Manager. “We couldn’t have had such a successful season without their dedication and commitment to making Homewood’s Farmers Market one of the best in the south suburbs.”

America’s Farmers Market Celebration is an annual program conducted by American Farmland Trust that highlights outstanding farmers markets across the United States, based entirely on votes from community members and supporters.
