Homewood Fall Fest and Chili Cook-Off: The Week Ahead

Homewood Fall Fest and Chili Cook-Off: "Homewood’s favorite fall time festival is scheduled for Saturday, September 21. Fall Fest will feature live entertainment, horse-drawn wagon rides through downtown, the annual bean bag tournament, petting zoo and pony rides, games, craft vendors, a pumpkin patch children’s crafts, and scrumptious cuisine prepared by local eateries.  The event will take place on the tree-lined Martin Avenue from Hickory Road to Ridge Road. 20 additional art vendors will join the event, so come out for a rare collection of arts and crafts not available at any other event."

Magic Tricks at the Irwin Center: "You will have a great time learning a collection of fascinating and mesmerizing tricks. Amaze your family and friends. All materials provided, and take home a magic kit. Sign up again as new tricks are taught each session. Ages 5-13. Register by Sept. 10."

Ray Kamalay's Musical Flea Market: "Whether it's blues or Bach, ragtime or randy, hillbilly or hot, Ray Kamalay has built an historic repertoire of music that is both intriguing and fun. Kamalay, a professional musician for more than 35 years, brings his special collection of songs to the Flossmoor Library for all to enjoy."

The Knowledge Exchange at Governors State University: "Registration currently underway for non-credited, peer led courses at The Knowledge Exchange - a continuing education program at Governors State University.  Fall 2013 courses: The Feminine Mystique:A 50th Anniversary Celebration, Cinema Studies: Coming of Age - A New Genre, Topics in Science and Constitutional Law. Classes begin Sept. 20th, meeting on Friday mornings and afternoons through November 8th."

Low Cost Pet Vaccine Clinic: "SPAY ILLINOIS is hosting a low cost pet vaccine clinic on September 21st, 2013 at Teds Feed Store located at 17950 Burnham Ave. Lansing, IL 60438. The clinic will run from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM.

Homewood Schools Fund Run: "Lace up your sneakers for this year’s Homewood Schools Fund Run, Foundation 153's annual 5K run/walk and 153 yard kids’ dash, on Sunday, September 22nd.  The USA Track & Field certified course takes you through our beautiful Homewood neighborhoods. Experience the challenge of a 5K race or if you prefer a slower pace, join other families and friends as they walk in support of our wonderful school district.
