Man Shot At Person Stealing His Car As He Chased After Vehicle
Homewood police said Tyrone Hymon was responsible for shell casings found at the scene last month. They have not identified the car thief.
HOMEWOOD, IL — A person who was hit by a car last monthwhile chasing after their own vehicle that had just been stolen from a parking lot was charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm after Homewood police said the man shot at his stolen car while running after it.
According to officials, Tyrone Hymon left his car running in a parking lot in the 18200 block of Halsted Street at around 9:50 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 28. An unknown person got into Hymon's vehicle while he was distracted and sped away.
Police said shell casings found at the scene were from Hymon's gun. A later investigation revealed Hymon shot at the person who stole his car while they were driving away. He was stopped when he was hit by a secondary car that police said was also involved in the theft.

The 36-year-old Homewood resident was taken into custody on Dec. 23 and charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon by a felon.
He was granted a D Bond and will need to post $10,000 in order to be released pending a trial date.

Police said they are still unsure who stole Hymon's car and who was driving the second vehicle that struck Hymon. He received minor injuries as a result of the crash.
