Masks Now Required In Homewood Municipal Buildings
The village announced Tuesday that masks will now be required while entering buildings like the village hall, regardless of vaccine status.

HOMEWOOD, IL — The village of Homewood has announced it is mandating masks in certain locations of town, again. The new mandate comes in an effort to stop the spread of the coronavirus.
"Village of Homewood officials continue to monitor COVID-19 and the Delta variant closely and are implementing the updated mask recommendations released by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the Illinois Department of Health (IDPH)," the village announced Tuesday. "As such, all persons, regardless of vaccination status, are now required to wear a mask in all Municipal Buildings."

- Village Hall: 2020 Chestnut Road
Homewood Public Works Building: 17755 South Ashland Avenue- Homewood Police Department: 17950 Dixie Highway
- Homewood Fire Department: 17950 Dixie Highway
"The Village continues to follow recommended protocols from the CDC and the IDPH closely and has contingency protocols in place to help protect our community and village staff," the village said in its announcement.
On Saturday, the Cook County Department of Public Health reported that Homewood has counted eight new COVID-19 cases within the village. More than half of the village's population has completed the vaccine series, as 54 percent of residents were reported fully vaccinated. Nearly 65 percent of Homewood residents has received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, according to the department.
