Movie Fan Allegedly Snatches DVDs from Kmart: Blotter

Homewood police reports, May 3.

FRIDAY, MAY 3

Alleged Shoplifter Grabbed DVDs

James DeBerry, 51, of the 500 block of West 126th Street, Chicago, was charged with retail theft, according to a report. He is accused of stealing DVDs, including Django, Gangster Squad and Haunted House, and other merchandise totaling $116.30 at about 2:04 a.m. from Super Kmart, 17550 Halsted St. DeBerry is due on June 14 in Markham court.

Thieves Split With Rims & Wheels

Heavy-duty vehicle jacks were used to swipe four rims and tires from a vehicle parked in the 18100 block of Sacremento Avenue, according to a report. The victim said the vehicle was parked in the driveway and believes the theft happened sometime between 6 p.m. May 2 and 4 a.m. May 3.

Homewood Man Accused Of Hitting Person Who Broke Up Fight

Adam Szwarek, 21, of 17900 block of Ashland Avenue, Homewood, was charged with battery and possession of marijuana, according to a report. Police said Szwarek struck someone who tried to break up a fight. He is due on June 17 in Markham court.
