'Name The Snowplow' Contest Debuts In Homewood

Homewood residents are asked to get creative and help name the snowplow. Contest kicked off January 16.

HOMEWOOD, IL — The Village of Homewood needs residents' help, with a new contest hoping to give its snowplow a name of its own.

The Village of Homewood announced the latest community contest on Tuesday, Jan. 16 in an effort to engage with Homewood residents and Homewood’s public safety departments. Residents are invited to submit an entry to name the Village's snowplow.

The “Name the Snowplow” contest will run from January 16 until February 15. Residents are invited to submit a creative name by January 26. Next, Public Works department staff will narrow down all entries to 10 names. Lastly, residents will be invited to vote for their favorite snowplow name from February 2 until February 14.

"I know the Homewood community is very creative and will come up with awesome ideas to name the snowplow," said Communications Specialist Antonia Steinmiller. "I hope the community has fun with the contest and is excited to participate."

The winner will be announced on February 15 and will be invited to the Public Works department to officially name the snowplow.
