No Injuries After Homewood Fire, House Severely Damaged: Fire Dept.
Officials said the fire started accidentally at a home in Downey Manor. The house is now a 'total loss,' according to Deputy Chief DeJong.
HOMEWOOD, IL — No one was injured in a house fire Tuesday in Downey Manor, fire officials said. However, the home did suffer extensive damages.
According to officials, firefighters from Homewood and surrounding communities responded to the fire in the 18600 block of Golfview Avenue at around 3:15 p.m. Tuesday. Deputy Fire Chief Steve DeJong told Patch the fire was started accidentally.
"The house is pretty much a total loss but Red Cross is working with [the resident]," DeJong said.

One person was home at the time of the fire but managed to get out of the house without injury, DeJong said. The fire was contained and did not spread to any neighboring houses.
