FLOSSMOOR, IL — Parker Junior High School will move to remote learning for the rest of the year after an outbreak of COVID-19 among students and staff at the school, officials told Patch.

The uptick in cases was discovered by SHIELD Illinois, a program through the University of Illinois which administers saliva-based COVID-19 tests to K-12 schools in the state.

Parker Junior High School regularly tests students and staff, administrators said. After the most recent testing day on Tuesday, school officials decided to move to remote learning beginning Thursday.
