Parker Students Head To National History Day Competition
This is the first year a Parker team will head to the history's national competition. They're looking for a little help through GoFundMe.

HOMEWOOD-FLOSSMOOR, IL — Parker Junior High Students will be representing the State of Illinois at National History Day at the University of Maryland next month.
A team of seventh-grade students will be heading there as part of the year-long academic program that is focused on historical research, interpretation and creative expression.
Using this year's theme,"triumph and tragedy," students chose their own topic and teams, then showcases their learning by writing a paper or by creating a website, documentary, exhibit board or performance.

One of Parker's teams from the 22 competing students -- called The Black Panthers: Violence or Justice? -- came in first place in state and will represent Illinois at the national level June 9 to 13.
The team members include Brice Anderson, Chito Emebeche, Isis El Harris, Madison Leathers, and Makayla Taylor.

This is the first time the district's students have advanced this far in the competition.
