HOMEWOOD, IL — For those looking to adopt a pet, a great place to look for your new family member is at the South Suburban Humane Society. This week's 'Adoptable Pets' are Rudy and Dutchess, a senior bonded pair of dachshunds looking for a place to spend their golden years.

The society said Rudy is 8 and Dutchess is 12. Dutchess is mostly blind but gets around really well... as long as she has her friend Rudy! Dutchess can get a little startled by young kids and Rudy can be a little shy, so a home without young kids is best. They do well with other dogs, but are not fans of cats.

Both are available for adoption at the South Suburban Humane Society's Homewood Adoption Center. at 2207 W. 183rd St. in Homewood. The adoption center is open on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
