Police Arrest Hazel Crest Man In Homewood Dollar Tree Robbery

Jonathan Payne, 18, was charged with battery with a deadly weapon and two counts of armed robbery after holding up a Homewood dollar store.

HOMEWOOD, IL — Homewood police arrested a Hazel Crest man in connection with the armed robbery of the Dollar Tree store in Homewood last week.

Jonathan Payne, 18, has been charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and two counts of armed robbery, the Homewood-Flossmor Chronicle reported.

The robbery happened just after 5 p.m. at the store at 17510 Halsted Street. Witnesses said that a man with a medium build came in, showed his gun and demanded money from a clerk. As he fled, he grabbed a woman's purse. Police said the clerk was injured and treated on the scene by Homewood paramedics.

Homewood Police Department, Posen Police Department and Crestwood Police Department worked together to locate and arrest Payne, the Chronicle reported.
