Flossmoor PD Needs Public's Help In Fatal Hit-And-Run Investigation

Flossmoor police are looking for answers in an apparent hit-and-run that killed a 23-year-old Matteson woman.

FLOSSMOOR, IL — Flossmoor police are asking for the public's help as they investigate a hit-and-run that killed a Matteson woman.

Aaliyah Leonard, 23, was found unresponsive at the scene of an apparent hit-and-run at 196th and Governors Highway Friday morning. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Flossmoor Police continue to investigate the Feb. 9 incident, now issuing a request for anyone who might have seen Leonard walking on Governors Highway Thursday night into Friday morning to contact police at (708)957-4500.

At approximately 9:30 a.m. Feb. 9, first responders were called to Governors Highway for a report of a possible hit-and run fatal accident involving a pedestrian, police said early Friday. A portion of Governors Highway was closed during the investigation. It had reopened by Friday afternoon.

Flossmoor police are investigating, along with Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team (S.M.A.R.T.).
