DOLTON, IL — There was shoving, shouting and the ejection of residents by police Monday night at Dolton Village Hall as trustees’ efforts to investigate embattled Mayor Tiffany Henyard continued, according to reports.

The meeting lasted hours and the police chief eventually threw residents out into the parking lot, according to WLS.

“It doesn’t matter how many questions that we ask you,” said an attendee identified only as Vivian by WLS. “You never, ever answer the questions.”

A majority of trustees voted in April to hire former Chicago mayor Lori Lightfoot to probe Henyard’s spending at a rate of $400 per hour, the outlet reported, noting Henyard vetoed the move but was overriden by the board Monday.

Lightfoot attended the meeting but her microphone was turned off, according to NBC Chicago.

"Even though they turned the mics off, we will continue working on behalf of the residents of Dolton,” Lightfoot said, the outlet reported.

Henyard is accused of misspending and is the focus of numerous lawsuits and federal investigations, according to NBC Chicago, which reported the mayor told media at the meeting to, “showcase the good in our village because you’re putting a black eye on our community.”

Lightfoot’s probe is expected to wrap up in about two months, NBC Chicago reported.

Also of note Monday, Trustee Andrew Holmes, a former Chicago activist, was present, marking his first time at a board meeting since being accused of sexual assault, the outlet reported.
