100-Year-Old Flossmoor Resident "Snookie" Jeneson Honored By Village

Flossmoor Mayor Paul Braun presented a resolution honoring resident Else "Snookie" Jeneson on her 100th birthday.

Long before the cast of Jersey Shore was born, even before the invention of television, Else "Snookie" Heidt was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on Nov. 26, 1912.

"This is a little Snookie," the housekeeper said upon first glance of the newborn, according to a resolution passed by the village. Now, 100 later, the name still sticks.

Since moving to Flossmoor in 1946 with husband George Jeneson and two children, Snookie Jensen has been an active member of the community. She has served as President of the Flossmoor Infant Welfare Society and also as a volunteer den leader for the Cub Scouts. She was one of the first volunteers at Flossmoor Community Church's Bargain Box, has enjoyed golfing at Olympia Fields Country Club and still plays bridge to this day.

"I'm just very happy that we decided to move to Flossmoor," Jeneson said. "It's a wonderful village and, of course, the people make the village and they are great. I hope that I can stay a little longer and watch it grow a little better."
