Suspect In Park Forest Double Homicide In Custody: PD

PARK FOREST, IL — A man wanted in connection with the shooting deaths of two women inside a Park Forest home last week has been taken into custody, police said Tuesday.

A day after a warrant for two counts of first degree murder was issued, Coleman Franklin, 50, is in police custody Tuesday afternoon, police said. Franklin is a suspect in the Dec. 26 shooting deaths of Lillian Brown, 51, and Sabrina McCain, 30. The women were found fatally shot at a home in the 300 block of Miami Street, and two unharmed children were also found in the home.

The killings were not a random crime and the victims and suspect were known to each other, police said previously.

Park Forest Police and the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force worked together to identify Franklin as a suspect.

Additional information was not immediately available as of 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
