University Park Juvenile Arrested In Carjacking Attempt: Flossmoor PD
Flossmoor police on Oct. 23 made an arrest in the June 7, 2024 incident.
FLOSSMOOR, IL — Flossmoor police on Wednesday made an arrest in a June 2024 attempted carjacking.
On Wednesday, Oct. 23, Flossmoor Police Detectives arrested a juvenile from University Park who is a suspect in the June 7 attempted carjacking in the 700 block of Sterling Avenue.
A resident that day told police a person had followed them from the Homewood Metra lot, before blocking their car on Sterling Avenue. The victim told police that one of the car’s occupants got out of the vehicle, flashed a handgun, and fired one bullet into their windshield. The victim was not struck, but the bullet passed completely through their car, damaging two windows. The victim was then able to drive around the suspects’ car and managed to get home to report the incident.

Photos from Flossmoor’s Flock camera identified the car as a white Dodge Charger. Police said the suspect’s vehicle had been stolen out of Olympia Fields earlier that morning.
Police said that License Plate Reader (LPR) cameras, video surveillance and other types of evidence were instrumental in identifying the suspect and in filing the four charges: attempted first degree murder, attempted aggravated armed vehicular hijacking, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, and aggravated battery public way.

The suspect is in custody at the Cook County Juvenile Detention Center.
