HOMEWOOD, IL — Van Sipma Jewelers, a five-generation family business and fixture in the south suburbs since 1900, is celebrating 125 years in business with a week-long anniversary event this October.

In 1900, two Dutch immigrant brothers, Oege and Sipke Van Sipma, opened the doors to a small watch repair and jewelry store in Roseland called Van Sipma Bros. The brothers never imagined their humble storefront, located on 111th and Michigan Avenue, would evolve into one of the oldest family-owned and operated jewelry stores in the country. Today, the tradition continues under the leadership of fourth generation owners Gary and Lynn Van Sipma alongside their two daughters, Ashley and Sarah.

Founded in 1900 in Roseland, Van Sipma Jewelers has been serving families in the Chicagoland area for five generations. Known for its commitment to quality, craftsmanship, and community, Van Sipma continues to blend timeless traditions with modern designs, offering customers jewelry that marks life’s most meaningful milestones.

The 125th anniversary celebration begins with an exclusive First Look Preview on Saturday, Oct. 4. The showcase continues Oct. 7–11, hosted at Van Sipma Jewelers in downtown Homewood. Guests will have the rare opportunity to shop the curated collection of vintage and estate jewelry. Watch lovers can shop pieces dating as far back to the Victorian and Edwardian time periods. Lastly, a contemporary collection featuring the latest trends in jewelry will be available for jewelry enthusiasts.

“We know 125 years in business is more than a milestone,” said owner Gary Van Sipma. “It’s a story of family, tradition, and the generations of customers who have trusted us with their most meaningful moments. This event is our way of honoring that history, celebrating our customers and showcasing unique jewelry pieces that each have a story of their own.”
