HOMEWOOD, IL — A village administrator who previously worked on Chicago’s North Shore and in the city’s northern suburbs has moved south and will now serve as Homewood’s new assistant village manager, officials announced this week.

Tyler Hall, an Evanston native who worked previously in Highland Park and Arlington Heights, began in his new role in Homewood on Monday. Village officials said that Hall’s position is critical to village operations both from an internal and external perspective.

Hall will serve a critical function in assisting Village Manager Napoleon Haney with daily operations and helping accomplish the broader goals of the Village Board and community, the village said. Hall will take his Oath of Office before the Village Board and residents at the January 24 Village Board Meeting.

“I was attracted to the assistant village manager position for the opportunity to serve Homewood’s diverse community, work alongside experienced Village leaders, and collaborate with community partners and residents,” Hall said in a news release.

The village said that Hall will assist with managing the village’s day-to-day operations that include oversight of department operations, labor union agreements, and negotiations, financial forecasting, and budgeting, research and analysis, and grant research.

While working in Highland Park, Hall served on the city’s labor management teams for police officer and police sergeant unions, oversaw the waste hauling franchise agreements, managed various community engagement programs, and led the police department to their fifth national accreditation award.

Hall has a Master of Public Administration from Northern Illinois University and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Wittenburg University in Ohio. Hall also coaches men’s lacrosse at Elmhurst University.

“I wholeheartedly believe that Tyler is going to be a critical and complementary part of our municipal team,” Haney said in a statement released by the village. “He has a great background and a bright future."
