Homewood Partners With D153 For MLK Jr. Day Of Service

The Village is working with D153 in collecting donations for several key, local nonprofits and organizations the month of January.

HOMEWOOD, IL — The Village of Homewood will partner with School District 153 during the month of January to collect items in need for three local organizations. The kick-off donation event will be held Monday, January 15 at Village Hall, 2020 Chestnut Rd., from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

This is the Village of Homewood’s second year participating in Martin Luther King, Jr.’s Day of Service. School District 153 began the initiative back in 2022. After the initial drop-off on Jan. 15, residents can visit one of five different locations for further participation until January 31. The collection sites include James Hart School office, Willow School office, Churchill School office, District 153 office and Village Hall. All collection sites will receive items during normal business hours.

"The Village of Homewood is excited for the opportunity to collaborate with School District 153 on this initiative," said Event Manager Marla Youngblood. "We believe in public service and what better way to assist with local organizations that serve our Homewood community."
